The Joe Foster Award
for Services to Education
About the Bahá'í Faith Joe FosterJoe Foster was extensively involved in the early development of multi faith religious education in England. He was one of the founder members of the Shap Working Party on World Religions in Education which has “probably done most to ensure an on-going dialogue between RE and the study of religion”.  He was a college lecturer in Technology and served on the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of the United Kingdom and as an Auxiliary Board member. Joe was also a founder member of the Baha'i community in his home town of Kendal.
Secondary R.E. Sheila Williams
The 2007 Award winner, Sheila Williams, member of Birmingham SACRE being presented with her award at the UK National Baha'i Festival in January 2008 by the secretary of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of the United Kingdom, Dr Kishan Manocha. A “retired” Deputy Headteacher, Sheila has written much of the Baha’i section of the new and seminal Birmingham Agreed Syllabus, which will prove an inspiration to many other SACREs across the country.

Hasan has served on Brent SACRE for three decades, chairing the SACRE for much of that time, and has been honoured by Brent Council for that work. He arranged with EdExcel the establishment of a Christianity and Baha’i option, and has made major contributions to interfaith work in London.He is pictured here with Mrs Dorothy Foster, Joe’s widow, and the noted sculptor Charlie Tibbey, who designed and crafted the Award figures.
